Not only the Captain of the ACAMAR, her sailboat from her days with her beloved husband, Sidney Tallman, Adele received her 50 Ton Captains License and every summer, she went on a cruise with colleagues aboard the Calanus to further science at RSMAS, the marine biology lab at the University of Miami where she worked for many years.
Adele had 3 siblings, Harlan (Beanie) her older brother and the twins, Elsa (in picture to the right of Adele) and Dionne. Adele's mother and father, Margaret and Harlen, called her the baby! She grew up in the Philadelphia area and played field hockey and lacrosse growing up. She started her love of sailing in Stone Harbor, NJ where her father had become the Commodore of the yacht club there.
Dinghy was Adele's last pet, found by her friend Petar. He brought her home one day as a kitten, found in the rain by the grocery store, he couldn't leaver her there all alone. Petar already had a beautiful dog that Adele loved, Dusty, so he couldn't keep the kitty. So Adele was the chosen one and raised the little kitten to a bad kitty (really good but watch out for those claws). Adele also had a wonderful dog named Beau, an adopted cat named Mr. Kitty, another cat named Lilly, a dog with Sid named Crispy, and a childhood dog named Taffy. She also took care of Lucky in Stone Harbor, the neighbor's dog (Charles and Hope Pealer).
